Annyeonghaseyo Korea

안녕하세요!

This out of the country trip is (what I'd like to think) solely for the purpose of my licensure exam. But luckily for me, the plane ticket my travel agent booked (shoutout to Ms. Claire of Globemate) has a 13-hour layover in South Korea 🇰🇷, which I know will have enough time for me to go around and tour.

I also noticed my luggages decided to matchy-match with Korean Air. I got them from Lazada for a very reasonable price. They come in 3 different sizes, great for long travels.

Pardon the obligatory passport photo.

Okay, so here is the Free Korea Transit Tour I signed up for months prior. It's not quite hard to find though with all the signs leading to their desk. After they arranged my scheduled tours, was the very daunting interview with the Immigration officer. I kept my cool and was eventually approved. *sigh of relief* 😏

You can book reservations here or email at transittour@airport.kr. They respond to queries immediately.

As the driver started the bus engine, I was met with this weird-looking sculpture. It was explained to me that it is the symbol of Incheon International Airport (ICN). The top is an airship while the one on the bottom depicts a globe. Together, it's an airship launching off from a globe which is appropriate for an airport.

My first tour is the Yonggungsa Temple (용궁사). It is a 20-minute drive from the airport and is located on the northeastern slopes of Baegunsan Mountain, Incheon (인천).

The 11 meter-high statue of Maitreya of the Buddhist faith.

Just outside the temple is the 1,300 year old Zelkova Tree. The plates under the tree were written by tourists so their dreams may come true.
